Description
Busch Pressman Model D 4x5 camera. Absolutely fantastically preserved example I got a couple years ago from the estate of a photog. Includes all original parts including the Wollensak lens, which includes original cap and is clean and free of any haze, scratches, or fungus. Rapax shutter speeds all seem good (although I haven't timed them exactly). Focus is smooth. Leather bellows and leather viewfinder parts look like new - flexible, and no wear, holes or light leaks (I checked the bellows with a flashlight). Ground glass is in perfect condition.Provisos: Coupled rangefinder works but needs some cleaning and TLC it looks like (mostly, these are focused using the ground glass anyway). Original owner was a smoker, so it has a bit of a smell, but I gave all of the items a good cleaning and its minor. Case is worn through the cover on the bottom corners (otherwise, the hinges, lock and interior are in great condition).
Includes:
Felt-lined case, with key
Busch flash, cables, bulb adaptors, and a huge number of flash bulbs (21 small and about 10 larger ones). The flash uses a weird format battery but they can still be obtained on the web, if you want to try one out.
7 film holders with sliders, all work well.
Original manuals for the camera, rangefinder and flash unit.
Receipt showing shutter was serviced in 1989, by "Photoart House and Hobby" in Cottage Grove Wisconsin, which I assume no longer exists; the last owner bought it new according to his wife.
Overall this is amazingly well preserved and looked after camera, normally they are found in much worse condition. Use it to get into large format photography, I thought about it but I have too many hobbies already. Or buy just to keep on a shelf, it's a beautiful object.
Shipping weight is about 25 pounds, I'll ship using priority mail (not the cheapest but safer), or pick up in Madison, WI.
